BEAM+ LAB is a pioneering start-up reimagining the future of virtual idols through a decentralized lens. We’re building a Web3-powered ecosystem that mirrors the spirit of Entertainment—incubating original virtual characters that are co-created, co-owned, and commercialized alongside established Web2 IPs, all in collaboration with our vibrant community.
As the Branding Director, I spearhead the creation of our brand identity, tone, and visual language. My role encompasses designing NFT, crafting 3D models, shaping intuitive UI/UX for our products, producing dynamic motion graphics, and curating compelling social media content to bring our vision to life.
At BEAM+ LAB, I played a key role in shaping a business strategy to attract top artists for commercial and fundraising initiatives. We positioned BEAM+ LAB as a decentralized platform, inviting artists to co-create and co-own intellectual properties (IPs) with our Web3 community.
These collaborations drove a fundraising campaign that raised over HKD 8,000,000 from Web3 investors, entertainment stakeholders, and community supporters. The funds are now fueling the creation of 3D-modeled virtual idols, motion graphics, and social media content, while strengthening ties with Web2 IPs and Japanese animation studios.
1. How can we introduce new users to decentralized ownership without overwhelming them?
Start with a simple analogy, like comparing decentralized ownership to a shared art project where everyone contributes and owns a piece of the final work. Gradually introduce more complex Web3 concepts, such as NFTs and governance, through interactive examples tied to virtual idol creation, like a tutorial where users "adopt" a character part-by-part.
2. How can we make the contribution tracking system transparent and engaging?
Use a personalized dashboard that highlights key metrics, such as contribution points earned and estimated profit shares, with visual elements like progress bars or badges. Include tooltips or pop-ups that explain how contributions (e.g., designing a virtual idol’s outfit) translate into rewards in real-time.
3. What features can we include to attract Web2 IP holders to our platform?
Develop a seamless integration process, such as a drag-and-drop interface where Web2 IP holders can upload their content (e.g., character designs or music). Include clear guidelines and a preview of how their IPs will be used in virtual idols, alongside potential revenue-sharing benefits, all accessible via a dedicated partnership portal.
4. How can we foster a community-driven approach to selecting the best virtual idol designs?
Implement a decentralized voting mechanism where community members can vote or stake tokens on their favorite virtual idol designs. Offer incentives, such as bonus tokens or exclusive perks, for both voters and creators of top-voted designs, encouraging active participation and quality submissions.
The NFT concept you’re referring to—金 (Metal), 木 (Wood), 水 (Water), 火 (Fire), and 土 (Earth)—is inspired by the ancient Chinese philosophy of the Five Elements, known as Wu Xing. This system represents the natural world and its cycles through five interconnected elements, each with unique characteristics. In the context of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), these elements likely form the basis of a digital collection, where each one is a unique asset with distinct traits or purposes.
Channel promotional rollout, launching the video across social media, our website, and email campaigns, while encouraging community participation. To build anticipation, I teased each element individually, sparking discussions around favorite idols and their traits. The combination of stunning animation, the artists’ celebrity appeal, and the Five Elements theme generated millions of views, amplified by influencer engagement. This strategy created a wave of excitement that propelled the NFT drop to new heights.
